Magpie Taste

One of the things I most love about my work as an editor is the variety of different kinds and genres of writing that come across my desk. This week I’ve been working with the brilliant Paul C Brunson on his new project for audible; last week I was giving feedback on material from the second novel of the prodigiously talented novelist Rachel Bower. Next week has in store a memoir by a writer I’ll leave unnamed with a long and distinguished career behind him.

The range of projects I work on suits my magpie taste and helps me spot unexpected and useful connections between seemingly unrelated genres of writing. Unsurprisingly, my downtime reading is also wide-ranging.

What about you? Do you tend to stay in one lane when it comes to what you read, only occasionally straying into another, or are you all about variety too?
